Description
The Inland Lakes Yachting Association, which is a collection of Sailing Clubs centered here in the Midwest has recently added the Club 420 as an official fleet last summer. The goal of this move is to retain sailors in their teens and early twenties. 420’s are used widely throughout the country by this age group, especially in High School and Collegiate racing. In support of this effort the GLSS is planning to invite young racers from Geneva, Delavan, Beulah and other surrounding lakes to join us for training from 5:30-6:30 followed by casual races on Sunday and Thursday evenings. Sailors will be able to pay $20 per evening or $200 to participate in each of the 15 nights planned throughout the summer.
Typical Week
- Participants will race on Sunday and Thursday in a relaxed and fun series. LGYC membership is
not required for this class. Sailors will be expected to provide their own trapeze harnesses if they choose to utilize the trapezes. There will also be a Championship Series raced on
Saturday mornings on the course with C's and MC's for LGYC members.
Regattas
For sailors that want to participate in regional 420 Events the following is a list of local regattas for reference. There are a limited number of GLSS 420's available for charter for these events. Charters are $100/day for regattas.
