Melges 14 Race Team
Basic Course Description:
Melges 14 race team is created for those sailors who want to experience the thrill of sailing and racing in a high-performance boat. It is an advanced program for sailors with ample sailing experience. The Melges 14 sailing platform with 3 different sized sails allows for the power of the boat to adjusted to conditions and weight of the students as they progress. The members of the M14 race team will continue improving their skill pertaining to all facets of racing as well as their physical conditioning necessary for controlling the boat in all weather conditions.
As a part of the program all sailors will have coaches' support at LGYC race series as well as during the M14 National Championship.
This program offers a positive team setting where young sailors can learn and apply advanced racing skills. M 14 Race Team members begin their day at 9 am with a briefing about the upcoming session plan including daily goals and list of drills to be used . After coaches issue a game plan for the practice or race ahead, sailors proceed to sailing. Once on the water, coaches direct the team through a series of drills and activities, or supervises the team in a Yacht Club-sponsored race.
