Introduction to Sailing

Let three hours on Geneva Lake under the guidance of an experienced instructor help you decide if you want to get more involved with sailing at the GLSS. Includes rigging and terminology discussions.

Class Maximum: 3 students

Cost: $150/student

Schedule from the following: M,W,F (2-5pm or 5-8pm); Sat, Sun (9am-12pm, 1-4pm, 5-8pm)

Basic Keelboat Package - US Sailing Certification

Two full weekends or nine individual classes. This is a complete course for anyone interested in a comprehensive course to learn how to sail with confidence. Following U.S. Sailing's curriculum and taught by a certified U.S. Sailing Keelboat instructor, this is a 27 hour course. Each session documented in an official US Sailing Logbook! Small class size allows for individualized attention.

- Class Maximum: 3 students
- Cost: $1000 (includes Basic Keelboat text, US Sailing Certification program and testing fees)
- Schedule from the following: M,W,F (2-5pm or 5-8pm); Sat, Sun (9am-12pm, 1-4pm, 5-8pm)

Learn-to-Crew Course

The "Confident Crew Course" One full weekend day, or two evenings. Be completely involved when invited out for a sail and feel like a part of the crew and a real asset while aboard. Learn rigging, sail handling, terminology basics. Unique instruction geared toward your confidence on the water.

- Cost: $300/student
- Schedule from the following: M,W,F (2-5pm or 5-8pm); Sat, Sun (9am-12pm, 1-4pm, 5-8pm)

Scow Intro

This is your entry into the exciting world of scow sailing at the Lake Geneva Yacht Club. Classes are one-on-one instruction in a GLSS-owned, 16' MC Scow. For those who have beginning knowledge of sailing. Expect to learn sail trim, proper tacking / gibing, control line use and capsize recovery. Four, three hour classes. (Students may bring crew for part of training, if desired.)

- Class Size: 1 student
- Cost: $600/student
- Schedule: Thursday evenings, 5-8pm


Requirements

Students required to bring:
- Coast Guard approved lifejacket
- Appropriate outdoor activewear
- jacket or fleece
- Sun protection: hat, sunglasses, sunscreen
