Melges 15 ProgramINTERMEDIATE - ADVANCEDAges 12-18Basic Course Description:
Melges 15 program is the newest class in the GLSS offering that will use the 2021 Boat of the Year. The 15 has captured an immediate interest among sailors of all ages. Our goal is to help youth Melges 15 fans to learn how to sail the boat safely and improve their skill so that they are ready for competition. The Melges 15 has officially become an ILYA class with its own Championship and GLSS wants to be on the forefront of that development. We will also include coaching at the Dinghyfest which will have M15 races added this year as well. The class will run on Thursday 1-4 and Friday 9-12 and it will be free for those sailors who are signed up for the Singlehanded Race Team in the morning and X Boaters. Sailors who are not registered for the race teams will pay a small fee to join in.
Each team must provide a boat to sail in, GLSS purchased a fleet of 6 that will be available for charter. |

More Information
The participants in the Melges 15 program will meet twice a week to work on their skills. Thursday afternoon 1-4 pm the sailors will focus on practicing for the LGYC race series that is scheduled to start shortly after the camp. On Friday morning 9-12 the sailors will have a chance to debrief the races with the coach and focus on continuing their development. LGYC will also include the Melges 15 to their Saturday Races lineup. The participants will also have a coach support at the Melges 15 pat of the Dinghy Fest and we will consider sending a coach to the Melges 15 Inland Championship if we have a team going.
