Each year the GLSS organizes several regattas to allow sailors from other programs to come and compete against our team, experience the challenging conditions on Geneva Lake and enjoy local hospitality.

The oldest event that we host is the GLSS Dinghyfest. This traditional event started as the X Boat Invitational back in 1970 and for over 50 years attracted the best youth sailors in the Inland Lakes area. In 1998 the event included fast growing Optimist class which quickly started to attract a number of the youngest racer. With the development of new Melges boats, we continued to expanded the offering. First came the M14 in 2018 and then the Melges 15 in 2022.

Since GLSS continues to be active even in the off season months, we have recently added two new events to our calendar. In May GLSS hosts the Melges 15 Open Spring Regatta as an early start to the season, and in October we offer the Oktoberfest Singlehanded Regatta as a farewell to the fall sailing season.

GLSS also partners with the US Optimist Dinghy Association in organizing the Optimist Midwest Championship on biennial bases.
