Singlehanded
Race Team

Singlehanded Race Team is an advanced course designed for sailors who have aged out of the Optimist class and wish to continue racing in larger singlehanded boats. Sailors are introduced to foiling using Nikki and Skeeta dinghies, adding excitement and variety to the program. Depending on wind conditions, coaches determine whether sailors will train in Melges 14s, Lasers, GLSS foilers, or wing surfers.

The boats used in this program feature a range of rig sizes to accommodate sailors weighing approximately 100–200 pounds. This allows for a smooth transition from Optimists and ensures each sailor is matched with the appropriate sail size for varying weather conditions.

Admission to this class requires approval from the Sailing Director. Participants must provide their own Melges 14 or Laser; charters may be available through GLSS based on availability.

Racing season starts on June 8 and runs through July 24

Singlehanded Race Team practices are in the morning from 9-12.

On Wednesdays, the Race Team meets at 8:30 before LGYC Club Races

Coaching at the Dinghyfest is included
